The third round of RX Lites Cup, supporting event for FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy, has introduced all new podium names to fans in Kouvola Circuit, Finland.
Starting from open practices on saturday morning, 15 years old Kevin Hansen Jr showed how fast and passionate to win he can be. All signs were indicating that this young man is rising to the top on his first RX Lites Cup event. He won the 3 out of four heats, semi final and final, clinched his name to the top of the podium in Finland. Thanks to his racing family and Team Hansen for supporting such a talented future rallycross star.
The second place has been won by Yigit Timur, young Turkish rallycross driver finally stepped on to the podium after having troubles in first two rounds of the series. Toksport WRT driver Yigit is also found himself on the second place of championship standings.
Niclas Grönholm completed the podium and in his first event he also grabbed the throphy. Niclas, son of two times World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm, was the fastest name in the first heat on saturday morning and made it to finals which leads him to podium.
Sunday schedule hit by rain and heavy surface of the track gave hard times to all drivers and as well as thousands of enthusiastic spectators.
Finland round also was special for very first female driver for RX Lites, Sandra Hultgren. OMSE driver fought strongly and made it to finals but on the very beginning of final race she had an accident and had to retire from the race.
After three rounds of RX Lites cup, Kevin Eriksson leading the series. Yigit Timur climbed up to second place and even though missing in Finland Sebastien Eriksson is still on third place.
Next event will be in Sweden, only a week after Finland.
