FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy 2014 season has came to an end with its final round in San Luis, Argentina. The race weekend scheduled on friday and Saturday, combined with a Motorsports Festival of San Luis, including Dakar Rally Show, Drift show and a hill climb race.
2014 RX Lites Champion Kevin Eriksson also came to San Luis to get his prize of the season. As it was announced before the season, RX Lites Champion could have chance to drive a SuperCar at the last round which was held this weekend.
Kevin started the race weekend with an offroad experience and lost seconds which dropped him to 9th position. But after Heat2 he speeded up and raised the tempo. After finishing Heats at 5th place, he managed to race at semi-finals.
At semi-final 1 Kevin showed an outstanding drive, left RX regulars Marklund, Scott and Baldoni behind and made it to final race along with Peter Solberg and his teammate Bakkerud.
Despite Kevin dropped down to last position on the first corner of the final race, he managed to cross the checquered flag on 3rd position with his outsanding and passionate drive. 3rd overall on his first ever WorldRX race at the steer of a SuperCar was also awarded with a Champagne shower from World Rally and Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg.
RXLites Project has started with a motto of “Creating New Stars” on its debut season in 2014 and ends with “RX Step UP” as a follow up. It is proven now that RX Lites series is the best school for future RX stars and its success is crowned by a podium finish by young Swede Kevin Eriksson.
2015 and following seasons will be promising more action for new talents and new future stars.
First Corner Team would like to congratulate our Champion and Olsbergs MSE Team for their enormous effort.
