Reigning Swedish Supercar Lites Champion Kevin Hansen (16) will race both the RX Lites Cup and the RallyX Scandinavia series this season, driving his Peugeot 208 Lites.
Racing for the Peugeot Red Bull Hansen Junior Team, Hansen finished on the podium ten times last year, his first since graduating from Junior rallycross categories. The Red Bull athlete will get his 2015 campaign underway at Montalegre, Portugal next week as the RX Lites Cup supports the first round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
Hansen is targeting a pair of championship titles this season and believes consistency will the key to success. “My hopes for this season are quite high. I want to continue the great pace and podium streak that we had last year and I think that can bring us out on top, but it won’t be easy. There are a lot of good drivers in Lites. Pressure isn’t the right word, but for sure I think people are probably expecting me to win this year and my own goals are no lower than their expectations. In Portugal, we want a strong start to the year. Winning isn’t the priority, but good points are,” said Hansen.
The team has worked hard over the winter to ensure the 208 Lites is as well prepared as possible, while Kevin has also worked hard on his own physical and mental fitness. “Preparations over the winter have gone great. The Sweden Junior Team has provided me with a fantastic workout schedule and mental training. I’m ready to do this. We want to win and I really feel that the car, team and myself have taken a huge step forward,” continued the Swede.
For 2015, Hansen will be reunited with Team Manager, Graham Rodemark. The British Engineer masterminded Hansen’s Junior Championship title in the MSA British Rallycross Championship in 2012, alongside his success in the JRX Cup the same year. “To have Graham with us this year is perfect,” said Hansen. “He is a very clever and strategic guy with a lot of experience. He and I work very well together.”
Rodemark is no stranger to international competition, having worked with high profile Supercar drivers such as Kenneth Hansen, Martin Schanche and Liam Doran previously.“I’m really looking forward to working with Kevin this season. We worked well together in the British Championship and had a lot of success,” said Rodemark.“I hope I can aid him in becoming a rounded competitor and together we can archive success this year. Portugal will be a really exciting event.”
