The Season Starts in Portugal

RXLites 2015 season unveils this weekend in Montalegre, Portugal where the first round of FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy will be organised. On the second year of FIA’s newest World Championship, Montalegre will host the teams as a season-opener once again. The circuit placed in Vila Region which is in the north of Portugal, close to Spanish border. Its spectacular up and down turns, fast and compelling first corner and 1800 meters altitude above the sea level are all promising an unforgetable weekend for the enthusiasts.

There are number of newcomers as well as regulars from the last season.

Kevin Eriksson recently declared that he will be driving an RX Lites for full season to defend his crown he clinched in 2014. After stepping on to podium in Argentina when he was awarded to drive a Ford Fiesta SuperCar after winning the RX Lites title, he will surely do his best to sit behind the wheel of that SuperCar in Argentina once again. Sandra Hultgren will be his teammate for the season at Olsbergs MSE tent and she is already one of the regulars after her success in some selected rounds last year. There is one more Eriksson at the entry list for Portugal. Oliver Eriksson will be joining his teammates as a wildcard and he will be the youngest driver at the circuit as he just turned out 17.

Despite missing the first two rounds last year, Kevin Hansen JR managed to finish the season at the second place. Young Swede, as a member of Peugeot Red Bull Hansen Junior Team,  is one of the strongest contestant of the season and main rival of his countryman and namesake. Both Kevins are keen to drive that Fiesta SuperCar in Argentina.

The new season will host a motorsports celebrity from Poland. 1997 European Rally Champion, Polish Rally Champion for several times and Dakar Rally podium finisher Krzysztof Holowczyc will surely add plenty of excitement to the season. His remarkable experience on rally stages and motorsports background are so precious for the new generation and it’s a great opportunity to watch him driving an RX Lites beast troughout the season.  Young Polish off-roader Martin Kaczmarski is joining him through the season and Lotto Team of Poland will be backing up both cars.

Simon Wago Syversen is one of the new names of the season. Norwegian youngster will be joining the action with SET Poromotion colours on his car. Joachim Hvaal is another Norwegian and he already has enough experience from the last season as he started at the last three rounds. JC Technik will be servicing his RXLites.

Simon Olofsson has finished in the top ten overall last season despite joining only three rounds. Young Swede is back in action this year and will be present at the starting grid in Portugal. Tobias Brink also had the opporunity to drive in Swedish round in 2014. Tobias is completing the entry list for the season-opener in Portugal.

RX Lites 2015 season has new partners. Cooper Tires Europe is the new tire supplier of the whole series. This co-operation will surely add a lot of improvements on the lap times since the brand has an enormous experience on WorldRX Championship.

P1 Racing Fuels continue to boost up RX Lites engines as last year. But this year P1 Racing Fuels award the top three finishers with free fuel. This prize will be another motivation for the drivers to step on the podium.

RX Lites 2015 season will consist of 7 rounds. Norway and Spain are added to schedule this year where Finland was dropped from the WorldRX rounds. UK, Sweden and Turkey will be other rounds while the season ends in Italian soil. As it was las year, final races will be aired live on TV.
