The venue, Barcelona Circuit de Catalunya is the world famous place for motorsports enthusiasts and had many mamories from F1 to MototGP, as well as 24H races, WTCC rounds. BarcelonaRX is added to WorldRX calendar this year with adding gravel sections to main circuit and it’s ready to host passionate Spanish fans.
One of the flashing news for RX Lites series is Laia Sanz. She is a celebrity motocycle rider for cross-country events and her success in legendary Rally Dakar this year helped her fame to be recognised by the fans all over the world. She will try her best at the steer of an RXLites this weekend in Barcelona, at her home event.
We asked her how she feels about this upcoming experience:
“I’m really happy to be in RXLites. It’s something new for me.I love motorsports and I have this passion for cars and especially for bikes. I started to ride with my team when I was 3 years old. Then I became a professional rider. It was followed by Rally Dakar and enduro races I compete in. When I find an opportunity to test or drive a car ina race, I like it so much because it’s my other passion too. I will try to participate in this weekend’s race. Checked ll the drivers and all of them have a very high levels on RXLites Championship. So, I will try my best to learn and have some fun. Already excited for the race weekend.”
The other flashing news is Tejas Hirani. He will be the first Kenyan and also the first African at the World Rallycross Arena. It was the first time at the SuperCar Lites Test Day in IstanbulPark last year his name was heard and finally he is in the game. Tejas will be driving at the last 3 rounds of RXLites 2015 season including Barcelona, Istanbul and Franciacorta under TOKSport WRT’s tent where the Istanbul based Team is coming back to RXLites series after having a full season schedule last year.
Kevin Hansen Jr. is leading the series and he will be driving to defend his lead this weekend. Reigning Champion Kevin Eriksson is only 9 points behind his namesake and countryman. No doubt that both Kevins are keen to get the title and drive the Fiesta Supercar in Argentina as a prize.
Thomas Bryntesson is at the 3rd place in overall standings despite his absence in Portugal, the season-opener. He already made it to top of the podium twice this year and it seems he’s not slowing down.
Alejandro Fernandez is coming back to RXLites as he is familiar to the series from 2014 season. Young Colombian was showed up at the Canadian round this year and also he is a regular at the GRCLites of USA.
Cyril Raymond was also one of the participants at the SuperCar Lites Test Day last year and he made his first outing in CanadaRX too. Now he is joining the RXLites competition with the regulars this weekend and that will be the challenge he is looking for.
The schedule for BarcelonaRX covers both Saturday and Sunday. Heats 1,2 and 3 for RX Lites will be run on Saturday. Heat4 is on Sunday where semi-finals are scheduled to 13:40. And the most awaited race of the weekend, the final race will be at 15:00, Barcelona time.
