RXLites Visits Its Homeland For TurkeyRX

The 6th round of RXLites 2015 Championship is coming back to its homeland. Istanbul is the city where RXLites are designed and produced; at Avitas Motrosport production plant, just a few kilometeres away from Intercity IstanbulPark. The venue will host the 11th round of FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy this weekend and RXLites crews will be competing for title as its supporting event for the WorldRX.

Intercity IstanbulPark management carried through several developments on the track this year. The jump at the gravel section is higher and sharp in order to provide a proper action for the spectators. First corner has also a wider area to let drivers to use more space right after the start. IstanbulPark is the first example of WorldRX track which is converted from a Formula 1 track. This is why the crews will enjoy the facilities and the track as they already have the taste from last year.

RXLites will have two new names on its penultimate round for this season in Istanbul. GT star Tom Onslow-Cole will join the action at the steer of his Olsbergs MSE run RXLites as he was selected by MSA of UK after long procedures and beat other 11 contenders right before Lydden Hill round this year. He is willing to force the top.

Qatari rally driver Khalid Al Suwaidi is the second new name for the series. He will be driving TOKSport’s RXLites for the first time in Istanbul. Al Suwaidi is a popular name in Middle East Rally Championship and so familiar to slippery and sandy surfaces since he has 2 wins and second overall finish at the last season in his pocket.

17 year old Kenyan Tejas Hirani is becoming a regular for the series. After rolling his car in BarcelonaRX and retire he is much experienced about the limits of the car. IstanbulRX will be the chance to improve his skills and try out a podium finish for his name.

Kevin Hansen Jr is leading the 2015 RXLites Championship. Reigning champion Kevin Eriksson is only 9 points behind Hansen Jr. Thomas Bryntesson is also only 6 points behind Eriksson. Each driver has the chance to win the title for this year. This is why IstanbulRX will be a massive show for all the spectators, at the grandstands or in front of TV. All top three drivers keen to carry this chance forward to the last round of the season which will be organised in Franciacorta, Italy, in only 2 weeks after IstanbulRX.

Joachim Hvaal now has the chance to step one position higher at the standings since Simon Olofsson couldn’t make it to bring his John Deere coloured RXLites to Istanbul event. As of now, Simon is at the 4th position with 85 points and Joachim is following him only 10 points behind.

Lotto Team from Poland will once again be a part of the challenge. It’s the first time for Krzysztof Holowczyc and Martin Kaczmarski in Intercity IstanbulPark and Polish duo have the chance to grab a place at the podium.

The schedule starts with free practices on saturday morning. The day will continue with Heat1 and Heat2. Sunday schedule contains both Heat3 and Heat4 and followed by semi-finals. Final race is scheduled after 15:00 local time.
