RX Lites teams and drivers are heading to Riga, Latvia for the final round of 2016 season. FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy visits the Baltics for the first time and Riga’s state-of-the-art, brand new race track at Bikernieki will host the fastest growing motorsports in the world this weekend. The event will also host the final round of RX Lites 2016 season and the title will go either to France or Norway.
Frenchman Cyril Raymond from OMSE is leading the series and he will be out on the track to win the 2016 title. Norwegian Thomas Bryntesson from JC Raceteknik is only 8 points behind Cyril and mathematically he also has the chance to win. It will be one of the most awaited challenge of the season since the winner takes it all.
On the other hand, there will be another big fight for 3rd place. Simon Olofsson of Sweden is holding the 3rd place so far where Norwegian Joachim Hvaal is on a close chase on 4th and seperated by only 13 points. Rallycross fans will witness an amazing RX Lites race weekend as the competition is fierce and only the best can win under equal conditions.
12 drivers from 8 different nationalities will be challenging at Latvian event. Latvian Martins Lapins under JC Raceteknik tent will be joining the challenge for the first time and will use the advantage to be local for the event. Vasily Gryazin of Sport Racing Technologies is another newcomer to the arena and he is holding the title for first ever Russian driver at RX Lites series. Conner Martell of USA is familiar to RX Lites since he competed in Canadian round and finishing 5th but also he is a regular at GRC Lites of America. He is coming to Latvia as a race winner as he has two victories from season-opener in Phoenix,AZ and the last race in Seattle,WA. It will be another top for the final race to watch him against regulars.
Simon Wago Syversen seems safe at the 5th place but it’s not the same for Sondre Evjen and Kenyan driver Tejas Hirani as they both have the same points and will race for the 6th position overall. Emirati Saeed Bintouq and Norwegian Thomas Holmen completes the pack with their spectacular driving skills.
The schedule starts with drivers’ draw for the first qualifing race on Friday at 16:00 Q1, Q2 and Q3 will be held on saturday as the Q4, both semis and final race will be on Sunday. Differing from previous events, there will be additional price gibing ceremony for the top 3 finishers of the season. The Champion will have a chance to drive a Ford Fiesta Supercar against WorldRX contenders at the German round in Estering on 15-16 October weekend.
